Antique Black Forest German carved Raven decoy is offered for sale.  This Raven is carved and hand painted and mounted on a perch.  This is a fine Southern Germany folk lore, naïve art piece from circa 1900.  There are stories about the Raven.  Children were told about a misty shadowy Raven that lived deep in the woods that would leave its nest late at night searching for bad unruly children.  If the child wouldn’t go to bed the shadowy Nachtkrappa would come and snatch them away to be torn apart and eaten alive.  If they listened to their parents the Nachktappa would softly coo a lullaby while flying by their bedroom window.
