North Carolina rare pottery Art Deco jar

This rare, large Art Deco–Mission style transitional pottery piece, dating from 1920–1930, features a thrown body with hand-molded handles, expertly crafted and stamped by the North Carolina Pottery Co. Its unusual four-handled form, known as a “Catalonian jar,” is finished in dark brown/black with green glaze. This jar was sold in high-end department stores in the South during the 1930’s and its a testament to Southern Decorative arts.
